CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va--Cool Jet (Ire), trained by Jack Fisher, won the G3, 12 1/8 mile, $75,000 Mariann De Tejeda Memorial at the Foxfield Fall Races on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Owned by Riverdee Stable and ridden by Bernie Dalton, the 9 year-old Cool Jet won by 4 3/4 lengths over Foxy Walk (Ire), trained by Leslie Young, with Who's Counting, trained by Sean McDermott, third, finishing in 4:03, the fastest time of the day.
The favored Snap Decision, owned by Bruton Street-US and also trained by Fisher, finished fifth.
"Cool Jet came to me from Pat Doyle as a 6-year-old, and he's been sterling ever since," said Sean Clancy, head of the Rverdee syndicate. "He's a hard trying over-achiever."
Cool Jet has run 12 times for Riverdee Stable with five wins, three seconds, a third and two fourths after racing in England and Ireland as a 4- and 5-year old.
"He'll run next a the G2 at the International Gold Cup," said Clancy. "It depends on how he does there where he goes after that. He's not gong to Far Hills. The 2 5/8 mile race would be too far for him."
Fisher was unavailable for comment as he was in hospital following a fall.
"Snap was in the race as a prep for the Grand National at Far Hills" said Charlie Fenwick, co-owner of Bruton Street-US with Mike Hankin and Chalire Noell. "He stayed wide to stay on the good ground, and he got a good work out of the race."
Snap Decision is scheduled to go next to the Grand National at Far Hills.
King of the Kids, owned by James B. Steele, trained by Cyril Murphy and ridden by Dalton,, won the $40,000 Ratings Handicap Hurdle by 6 3/4 length sin 4:0 1/5 over Decisive Triumph, trained by Mark Beecher, and Caramelised (GB) traned by Young.
Attrayant, owned by Thomas S. Rice, trained by Barry Foley and ridden by Harry Beswick, won the $40,000 Maiden Hurdle by 11 lengths in 4:07 over Harrenhal (Ire), trained by Ricky Henriks, and Yes Sir Jack, trained by Young.
Arch Kingsley saddled Adam K. Newman's Gossiper, ridden by Freddie Procter, to win the $30,000 Filly and Mare Maiden Hurdle by 9 1/4 lengths in 4:09 25 over Wilma Flintshire, trained by Lillith Boucher, and Bold Look, trained by Foley.
McDemott saddled Lucy Howard's Love Saga, ridden bt Jamie Bargary, to win the $30,000 Ratings Handicap by a neck in 4"04 4/5 over Dante's Fire, trained by Neil Morris, and Ricky's Revenge, trained by Todd Wyatt.
Beowolf (Ire), owned by Maranto Manor, trained by Garner and ridden by Evan Dwan, won the $20,000 maiden Claiming Hurdle by 5 lengths in 4:10 1/5 over Love Shaq, trained by Foley, and Top of the Field (Ire), trained by Wyatt.
Hendirks saddled the winners of both Training Flat race, both owned by Del Rio Racing and both ridden by Conor Tierney.
Passing Game won one by 2 lengths over The Addison Pour, trained by Keri Brion, and Naturally Nimble, trained by Morris.
Rotterdam won the second by a neck over Grey Pharoh (Ire), trained by Young, and Pure Courage, trained by Wyatt.
