WELLINGTON, Fla.--Charlie Jayne on One and Only won the $50,000 Grand Prix, the featured event of the ESP Holiday Finale on Saturday night, Dec. 21.
FEI Level III course designer Anna Catalina “Catsy” Cruz of Mexico set a track that narrowed the field from 45 to just six for the jump-off.
Riding last, Jayne was clean in 36.714 seconds to edge out Germany’s Tony Stormanns on Donjon D’Asschaut, clean in 37.326 seconds to finish second, and Lebanon’s Jad Dana on Itchcock Des Dames was third in 37.699 seconds.
Earlier in the week, Amanda Derbyshire of Great Britain on Sade De Rialfo Z won the $10,000 1.40m Open Stake.
After a strong second-place finish the prior week, Derbyshire returned with determination to capture the win in the Stake and was clean in the jump-off in 34.172 seconds.
Alison Robitaille on Oakingham Lira finished second, just behind with a jump-off time of 34.6 seconds, and Lacey Gilbertson on Baloppi, was third in 34.661 seconds.
THE WEEK began with a spotlight on the hunter division, highlighted by the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby, Hunt & Go, with a competitive field of 35 competing in combined Rings 7 and 8.
John French on Ocean Road scored 92 and 94 for a total of 186 for the win.
Marcus Au, the previous week’s winner with Desiigner, was second this time with scores of 89 and 88.5 for a combined 177.5, and Augusta Iwasaki on Magic in the Making finished just half a point behind in third with a total of 177.
The 2024 Annual Series came to a close on Sunday with the $5,000 1.35m Open Stake in the International Arena.
Daniel Kerins, 18 of Ireland on Diacette, was clean in the jump-off in 40.392 seconds to win over a field of 37.
Close behind, Victoria Birdsall on Las Lajas was second in 40.527 seconds, and Ben Merritt on Lady Roxy was third in 42.152 seconds.
