France is qualified for the League of Nations

France, with a rich equestrian history, enters the League of Nations 2025 series in second place with 13,503 points.

This year promises to be a pivotal one for France, blending tradition, innovation, and preparation for future championships.

France’s equestrian achievements are many, with the nation producing some of the world’s finest horses and athletes.

Highlights include two Olympic team gold medals, in Montreal in 1976 and in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, and three World Championship titles, in Dublin in 1982, in Stockholm in 1990, and in Jerez in 2002 — the most in history, tied with Germany.

France also has many individual medalists.

“The sporting format of the circuit is truly exciting," said Sophie Dubourg, the National Technical Director of the French Equestrian Federation. "For our French team, it was excellent preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The events demand seasoned and efficient combinations, but the challenge lies in the early start to the circuit, which overlaps with the FEI World Cup season. This year, we’re choosing to mix experience and youth from the outset.”

FRANCE'S 2024 campaign included a victory in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

“Our goal is to qualify for the Final with the best possible result. This year, we aim to strengthen new combinations following the Olympics and focus on training and experience-building, with an eye on the World Championships in 2026,” Dubourg said. “The circuit’s format, with high stakes from the very first course, provides an educational and championship-like experience for our athletes.”

A major highlight for 2025 is the introduction of St. Tropez Gassin as a new venue in the League of Nations series.

This inaugural event is particularly significant for France, marking the first time a competition of this caliber will be held in the south of the country.

“Our territory is large, and this event allows us to reach a new audience,” Dubourg said. “We have full confidence in the organizing team and sports director Philippe Rozier, an Olympic team champion in Rio 2016.”

“We always strive to perform well at home and hope for a victory in Gassin,"said Dubourg. “The support of our French public will undoubtedly energize us.”

“Planning the competition season is essential,” Dubourg saId. “We collaborate closely with athletes, trainers, and veterinary staff to balance training, rest, and competition. The circuit’s predefined stages allow us to anticipate and prepare thoroughly, ensuring that horses and riders are in peak condition when it matters most.”
A Message to Fellow Nations and Fans

“All the nations are incredibly close in ability, making for a very competitive season. We hope France will shine once again!” she said. “We’re also thrilled to welcome equestrian fans and supporters to Gassin in September. It will be a memorable event for everyone involved.”
