More closings and revised schedules

THE WILLOWDALE STEEPLECHASE has beenpostponed to Saturday, June 6 from May 9.

Willowdale 1Based on the latest CDC recommendations for events, the difficult decision to postpone the races from Saturday, May 9, to Saturday, June 6.

All pre-purchased tickets for the May 9 date will be honored on June 6.

Additionally, we will extend the deadline for reserved tailgating space renewal by two weeks – from March 31 to April 14.

WINTERTHUR RACES are being postponed,  but it hasn't announced a new date as of yet.

As soon as it does, The Horse will publish that new date.

 THE KENTUCKY THREE-DAY Event and Kentucky CSI3* Invitational Grand Prix have been cancelled,

The events had been scheduled for April 23-26 at the Kentucky Horse Park.

The Kentucky Three-Day Event is one of only seven5* events worldwide.

 

THE NATIONAL Horse Show is, in keeping with the USEF and all major sporting organizations, suspending the sanctioning of all NHS Equitation classes (NHS/ASPCA Maclay, NHS/Hamel 3’3” Medal and NHS/THIS Adult Medal) for the next 30- days, beginning at midnight, March 16.

The National asks that any competitions held during this time period not offer or hold any NHS Equitation classes.

Members are advised that points will not be awarded to riders competing in any NHS Equitation class offered at horse shows held during this time period.

THE INTERCOLLEGIATE Horse Shows Association (IHSA) executive committee announced its decision to cancel the remainder of the 2019/2020 competition season, as of midnight March 12.

This cancellation applies to all IHSA shows including Zones, Western Semi-Finals and Nationals.

THE USHJA in alignment with US Equestrian is suspending all USHJA competitions and events for 30 days, effective Monday, March 16,

Competitions that choose to run during this time period may not include the USHJA name with any class or property, and will do so without USHJA recognition.

Competitors attending those events will not be able to accumulate or earn points, scores, money won, qualifications or rankings during this period for USEF or USHJA awards programs,

Championships and events. Similarly, USHJA Outreach classes are suspended.

The USHJA is committed to supporting date changes for any USHJA properties scheduled to occur between March 16 and April 14, as rescheduling is in the best interest of the sport.

Any Outreach events or other USHJA contracted events wishing to reschedule for a date outside of the 30-day suspension period should contact the USHJA Sport Department at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The USHJA will work to accommodate the rescheduling of as many USHJA events as possible at the request of the manager.

The USHJA will refund any fees already collected from Competitions hosting USHJA properties to take place during the 30-day time period.

KEENELAND officials 0n March 16 announced the cancellation of the track’s upcoming Spring Meet, which was scheduled for April 2-24, due to health and safety concerns surrounding the outbreak of COVID-19.

Keeneland will continue to provide stabling for the horses currently on the grounds, and the track will work with those who are caring for the horses to provide the necessary protocols and guidance to create the safest environment possible.

Effective immediately, no additional horses will be permitted to ship onto the Keeneland grounds.

Keeneland recommends that all horsemen not currently at Keeneland remain in place at the tracks and training facilities at which they are currently stabled.

RYERSS FARM for Aged Equines to close until further notice.

Ryerss will be closed beginning March 16 to all volunteers, former owners, and the general public.

THE TURF TOUR at The Ridge in Wellington will be held March 18-20 with no USEF points but points towards the Series Leading Rider Award will count.

No additional spectators, set up jump orders via 561-267-9149 and compete at scheduled time.

The Turf Tour at Black Watch Farm March 25-28 at this time is still scheduled to go.
