Graham Motion and Michael Matz have Stakes winners

ELMONT, N.Y.--Graham Motion saddled Trikari to win a Stakes race at Belmont at the Big A, while Michael Matz saddled Alla Brreve to win a Stakes at Laurel.

Amerman Racing's Trikari won the G1, $750,000, 1 1/16 mile Belmont Derby Invitational on the turf by a head on July 6.

Trikari was up close throughout the race, dueled outside the runner-up White Palomino in the final furlong and prevailed under strong urging.

This was Trimari's first G1 win, having previously won the Rushaway Stakes and the G2 American Turf Stakes.

This win gave Trikari a record of four wins, one second and one third from seven starts and earnings of $959,380.

Motion also saddled Amo Racing's Sir London to win a $53,900, 1 mile Allowance Optional Claiming race on the turf by 1/2 length at Laurel on July 5.

Matz saddled Runnymoore Racing's Alla Breve to win the $75,000, 6 furlong Jameela Stakes on the turf by a head at Laurel on July 14.

Alla Breve moved up steadily through the race, moved out four wide in the stretch and closed with determination to win.

This was Alla Breve's first Stakes win after winning and placing in the money in a number of allowance races.

Matz also saddled Runnymoore Racing's Carentan to win a $20,525, 6 furlong Maiden Claiming race by 4 lengths at Delaware Park on July 4.

 

BERNIE HOUGHTON had six winners, all but two for himself or his family, and all at Penn National.

His mother's homebred Bells Run won a $24,000, 6 furlong maiden Claiming race by 3 lengths on July 3, and his own homebred Major Thomas won a $38,053 Allowance race by 3/4 length on July 4.

Spring Hollow Racing's Uptown Seraphina won a $16,100, 6 furlong Claiming race by 2 lengths on July 5, and Dianne Stern'shomebred Foxy Junior won a $36,000, 1 1/16 mile Allowance Optional Claiming race by 2 1/2 lengths on July 11.

Also on July 11, his mother's homebred Bag of Gold won a $18,413k 5 1/2 furlong Maiden Claiming race by a nose, and his mother's Chapa won a $39,280 Allowance Optional  Claiming race by 3 3/4 lengths on July 18.

RICKY HENDRIKS saddled Winflower's La Crema to win a $19,000, 1 mile and 70 yards Maiden Claiming race on the turf by 1 1//2 lengths on July 4 at Delaware Park, and then saddled his own Get Khozy to win a $13,445, 6 furlong Maiden Claiming race by 3/4 length at Presque Isle on July 17.

KERI BRION saddled the Elkstone Group's Verbal Geyser to win a $15,000 Maiden Claiming race by 1/2 length at Presque Isle on July 10, and Charles Blanford's homebred Momma's Lino to win a $45,590, 1 1/16 mile Claiming race on the turf by 1 1/12 lengths at Laurel on July 19.

LIZ MERRYMAN saddled her own Chalice to win a $31,000, 5 furlong Maiden Special Weight on the turf by 2 1/4 lengths at Penn National on July 17.

KATHY NEILSON saddled Massie Land and Cattle's Go Take Charge to win a $19,250, 1 mile and 70 yards Maiden Claiming race on the turf by a head at Delaware Park on July 11.

McLANE HENDRIKS saddled Twodeeneys' Racing's Az Shard to win a $23,255, 6 furlong Maiden Claiming race by a neck at Delaware Park on July 7.
