Kevin Babington was moved on Wednesday, Sept. 25 to a rehab unit.
His wife Dianna has been hard at work getting the family home ready for Kevin.
She met with an architect and work will begin soon to make the house functional for Kevin's return.
Here is an update from Dianna......
Today we reached a milestone.
Kevin was successfully transferred to rehab today.
He was extremely happy to get out of NYU Langone Health Care despite the excellent care.
It was time to move on.
I want to thank all the doctors and nurses who helped us.
They worked tirelessly to keep Kevin stable and to get him in the best shape to transition.
As we move forward on this journey I hope friends will continue to visit and support him as he faces the new challenges ahead.
Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts.
ON SEPT. 23, one of his close friends, Dandelion Clark posted an update.
John and I drove into NYC to see Kevin Babington last night. He continues to fight, and his courage and tenacity will certainly serve him well in his battle to get better.
Kevin’s enduring spirit coupled with the love of his amazing family, friends and the thousands of prayers that continue to be said for him will help to guide him through this incredibly difficult time.
We had a great visit with Kevin, Dianna, Elizabeth, Colm and Kevin’s two sisters last night.
Raspberry and Chili tagged along too and Kevin even asked to see Razz so she could give him a kiss, which she was more than happy to do!
Gwyneth was in Kentucky for her Maclay Regionals and she had a great day finishing 11th with McKayla Langmeier’s Skyfall.
Congrats Gwyneth!
Marielle was in Princeton where she finished fifth in the Jump For Kevin Benefit Class.
I know how proud both Kevin and Dianna are of their two very special daughters!
Over the course of our visits over the past three weeks, despite how hard it is for Kevin to speak, he’s managed to convey several thoughts relating to his difficult journey in dealing with his injury.
Kevin’s perseverance, strength and philosophical outlook is humbling and inspiring to say the least.
Here are a few things Kevin has shared that clearly illustrates what a truly remarkable guy he is...
A quote from an episode of Shark Tank he watched...“Tough times never last; tough people always do."
He said he’s going to have realistic goals. He’s going to ride again but he’s probably not going to do the GCT. ❤️
And last night he somehow told a brief story of a book he read about a man who was captured in Russia for 50 years.
When the guy was finally rescued he was asked how he endured his time since he appeared relaxed and unstressed.
The man’s answer was: ‘Suffering wouldn’t have made my time any shorter, would it?’
Mr Babington...you are a complete inspiration, a marvel and a warrior.
There is so much love and support for you.
You’re going to do this, and we’ll all be here to offer continued support, positive thoughts and heartfelt prayers for you while you fight this battle.
Love you and your entire family lots! ❤️
