WILMINGTON, Del.--The triumvirate of Wendy and Ricky Hendriks ad Debra Kachel won two races at Delaware Park but in the process lost one of their winners to a claim.
While the horses are jointly owned, they run in the name of Debra E Kachel and are trained by Ricky Hendriks.
Tankerville won a $21,000, 1 1/16 mile Claiming race on the turf at Delaware Park on June 14 by 1 1/4 lengths.
"He got claimed, which was disappointing, but that's how the game goes," said Wendy Hendriks. "I bought him for the group at the Keeneland January sale for $12,000. He won a race at Mountaineer in his first start for us, and then won here."
Tankerville was claimed for $16,000 by trainer Chelsey Noysey for new owner Louis Matthews.
Between the two purses and the claiming price, Tankerville provided a good return on his purchase price for the group.
Sandy Lane Kitten won a $42,000, 1 1/16 mile Allowance race on the turf at Delaware Park by 1//2 length on June 7.
"Ricky bought him at Timonium a year ago," said Wendy. "He's won five races for us now, plus he's had a couple of seconds. He's a nice horse. The key to him was gelding him."
Sandy Lane Kitten was bought from a consignment of Marshall Silverman's for $30,000,, so he's certainly paid his new owners back.
"We'll probably keep running him back n the same spot," said Wendy.
GRAHAM MOTION saddled his second stakes winner in as many weeks as Blame Debbie won the $100,000, 1 1/2 miles Searching Stakes on the turf at Pimlico on June 13.
This was Blame Debbie's second stakes win after winning the Rood and Riddle Dowager Stakes at Keeneland last October.
The 4-year-old filly by Blame, oowned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Michael P. Cloonan and Timothy C. Thornton, went right to the lead, set comfortable fractions. was set down entering the stretch and won in hand by 3 1/2 lengths.
Blame Debbie now has four wins, one second and three thirds from 12 starts and earnings of $277,920.
Motion also saddled Newcal Stable's Chulainn to win a $45,000,, 1 mile Maiden Claiming race on the turf at Belmont on June 10.
Chulainn was six wide entering the stretch and closed strongly to get up late to win by a nose.
RODNEY JENKINS saddled Hillwood Stable's Valued Notion to win the $75,000, 5 furlong Ben's Cat Stakes at Pimlico on June 13.
Valued Notion disputed the early pace, went to the lead mid turn and won by 2 lengths under a drive.
This was Valued Notion's third win this year.. and the 4-year-old now has three wins from six starts and earnings of $92,490.
BERNIE HOUGHTON had a winner in Hillman Stable LLC's Bay of Angels, bred by his mother Betsy.
Bay of Angels won a $17,000, 5 furlong Maiden Claiming race on the turf at Penn National on June 4.
Last early on, Bay of Angels finished full of run to win by a head.
Houghton also claimed All Tacked Up for Edward Madden on June 8.
Hoghton's WMT Stables Inc. had bred All Tacked up and had raced the 4-year-old until he was claimed.
All Tacked Up won the $16,704. 1 mile and 70 yards Claiming race at Penn National by 4 1/2 lengths when he was claimed.
