COCKEYSVILLE, Md.--Mark Beecher of Fallston, Md., rode three winners, two of which he also trained, at the Green Spring Valley Point-to-Point on March 31.
Beecher rode Upland Partners' Mystic Strike, trained by Todd McKenna, to win the open timber by a neck over Morningstar Farm's Carrickboy (Ire), trained by Ricky Hendriks and ridden by Jack Doyle, with last year's Timber Horse of the Year, Doc Cebu, trained by Jack Fisher and ridden by Hadden Frost was third..
"I had Mystic Strike in training last year while Todd's license was suspended," said Beecher. "Carrickboy made the running. My horse ran a good, solid race. After he came to the last, he quickened away."
Beecher saddled Happenstance and Michael Beecher's Boogie Biz and rode him to win the Heavyweight Timber by three lengths.
"I've had Boogie Biz for four years," said Beecher. "He's a good horse. I jumped off in second, and four fences from home took over the running. He won easily enought."
BEECHER also trained and rode Patricia L Bosley's Tap the Moment to win the Training Flat race.
"He's a very nice horse," said Beecher. "He's been schooled over hurdles, but he still is eligible of non-winners of two on theflat, so we're hoping to run im in that race at the Gold Cup and then run him over fences."
Jack Fisner saddled Hyggelig Haven LLC's Political Theater (Ire), ridden by Frost, to win the Novice Timber, and Gun Lobby, owned, trained and ridden by Julie Nafe, won the Side Saddle Master's Chase.
Ballybristol Farm LLC's Andi'amu, trained by Leslie F. Young and ridden by James Slater, won the Amateur Flat, and Bruton Street US' Leopold, trained by William Dowling and ridden by Doyle, won the Training Flat.
