WEST GROVE, Pa.--Long-time Ashwell Stables foreman Bob Bailey passed away last week.
Bailey had been employed at Jonathan Sheppard's barn from the very beginning, seeing the trainer through Eclipse Award-winning horses, Breeder's Cup horses, assistant trainers Janet Elliot and Graham Motion, and multitudes of grooms and exercise riders.
"Bob was steady," said Sheppard. "He kept everyone on an even keel. Including me."
Bailey retired from Ashwell Stables several years ago, after over 45 years of service.
"He was a great support to me," said Sheppard, "very loyal. He'll be sorely missed."
