Laura Chapot and Sloane Coles to defend their championship at the Devon Fall Classic

DEVON, Pa.--Laura Chapot and Sloane Coles will be competing at the Devon Fall Classic, which begins in four days and runs Sept. 14-17 with an all jumper show, entertainment, shopping and a Fair with games and rides.

Saturday evening features the $7,500 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic while the night concludes with the highly anticipated $25,000 Devon Fall Classic Grand Prix.

Chapot of Neshanic Station, N.J., has showed at the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair since she was riding ponies and has never missed a Fall Classic,

She is one of the Devon spectators' favorite riders and has won countless championships and Leading Rider titles over the years.

She and her sister Wendy Chapot Nunn will be taking seven horses to the Fall Classic.

 

COLES OF The Plains, Va., has been showing at the Fall Classic for the past four or five years.

Sloane Coles Jump MediaSloane Coles (Photo by Jump Media)"The Fall Classic is a wonderful event," said Coles. "You get to show in the Dixon Oval. It's one of my favorite rings. You get to show under the lights with a great crowd."

"It's a great experience for young horses and young riders," said Coles.

Chapot has two horses entered in the Open Jumper division, C & C Willow and a brand new mount, Kanjer P, that she only started riding at the beginning of July, .

"They're both only 8 years old, so we'll see how they do," said her mother Mary Chapot, who owns many of Laura's mounts.

Nunn has her two horses entered in the adult amateur owner section, Cache, who was the Adult Amateur Jumper Champion at this year's Devon Horse Show and Country Fair, and General Thompson.

Chapot will also ride Mimi Chapman's Ciego in the 1.30m section and has a 6-year-old and 7-year-old for those two sections.

Coles has Ninjja, a 10-year-old mare, and Corrodo, a gelding, entered in the Open Jumper section.

Mia Mannis, who won last year's Fall Classic Saturday evening, is not showing this year.

The Fall Classic includes the traditional boutique shopping with a variety of goods from clothes to jewelry, prints and paintings, dog toys and clothes and tack and equipment.

There's also a huge menu of food from hamburgers and hot dogs to elaborate cuisine at the Garden Cafe.

The Wine Gazebo, located in the Picnic Grove, is open Thursday and Friday from 4 pm to close, and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am until close.

The Picnic Grove also offers entertainment with DJ Brian Kiley playing from 5 pm until 8 pm on Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday from noon to 3 pm and again from 5 pm to 9 pm.

For the youngsters, the Picnic Grove has Kids Crafts on Saturday from noon to 3 pm.

Then on Sunday, St. John''s Brass Ensemble will entertain beginning at noon.

There's fun for the whole family in the Fair area, with all kinds of games and rides, including the iconic Devon Ferris wheel.

Clydesdale Corner has adult refreshments daily and music in the evening.

Thursday evening, Old Fangled will play from 6 pm until 9, Friday evening enjoy Rick's Office Band from 6:30 to 9:30, and on Saturday evening Just Add Water will play from 6:30 to the close of the show.

The competition is presented by Land Rover Jaguar Main Line benefiting the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that allows the historic venue the support it needs to continue improvements to the showground.
