DEVON, Pa.--For the fifth year in a row, a colt owned by Susan Tice-Grossman of Keswick, Va., won the Best Young Horse at Devon.
Best Pa-bred Young HorseRagnar, handled by Drew Taylor, won the Yearling, Other than Thoroughbred, Colts and Geldings, to qualify for the competition for Best Young Horse.
Ragnar won Best Young Horse over Carrazana, handled by William Howland,who had won the Yearling Other than Thoroughbred, Fillies.
With her fifth consecutive win in Best Young Horse, Tice-Grossman is following in the footsteps of Kenny Wheeler, who had a strangle hold on that award for many years.
QUIMBY LANE, owned by Melisso Hawkins-Castillo and handled by Emily Anne Belin-McDonnell, won Best Pennsylvania Bred Young Horse after winning the Three Year Old Pennsylvania Bred Colts and Geldings.
Jay Raach won the Leading Handler Award.
Best Young PonyThat award is presented to the handler who has accumulated the most points in the Young Horse Breeding classes.
Rhett De Stephano's Twin Oaks Tito, handled by William Howland was Hunter Pony Champion, Colts and Geldings, over Morgan Shorft's Annings Legend, handled by Charlie Brown.
Melissa Jo Hollingswirth's Counterrpoint, handled by Taylor, was Hunter Pony Champion, Filly, over Denise Hankinson's Roya lLustre, handled by Belin-McDonnell.Twin Oaks Tito was BestYoung Pony over Counterpoint.
