TOKYO, Japan--Ben Maher of Great Britain won the Individual gold medal in Jumping at the Tokyo Olympics on Aug. 4, beating Peder Fredricson of Sweden by two-tenths of a second in a six horse jump-off.
Maher on Explosian W was last to go in the jump-off that had seen almost each rider going just a little fast than the one preceding, and he finished in 37.85.
Fredricson on All In finished on 38.02 for the silver medal, and Maikel van der Vleuten of The Netherlands on Beauville Z finished in 38.9 for the bronze medal.
Japan's Koki Saito on Chilensky was the first to go in the jump-off from the starting field of 30 riders who had qualified in the competition on Aug. 3, and he finished in 43.76,
Chilensky and Maher's Explosian W are both by Chacun Blue, who sired a few jumpers in this Olympics.
SECOND to go in the jump-off was Sweden's Henrik von Eckermann on King Edward, who finished in 39.71, with his teammate Malin Baryard-Johnsson on Indiana finishing in 40.76.
All the members of Sweden's team made the jump-off.

"This horse is not just the best horse I've ever had, but he might be one the three best horses the sport has ever seen," said Maher of Explosion W.
Maher's win gave Great Britain medals in all three disciples at the Olympics, with gold medals in Jumping and Team Eventing, a silver in Individual Eventing and a bronze in** Team Dressage plus a bronze in Individual Dressage.
