LAKE PLACID, N.Y.--For the second straight day, on Thursday,, July 1, Laura Chapot of Neshanic tation,, N.J., and Alex Matz of Coatesville, Pa., took top honors at the Lake Placid Horse Shows, but his time switching heights at which they won.
Matz rode to victory in the $5,000 1.40m class and Chapot claimed the win in the $2,000 1.35m Jumper class.
One of the premier stops on the nation's hunter-jumper horse show circuit, the two Lake Placid Horse Shows, June 29-July 11, feature more than 100 classes of competition each week awarding more than $600,000 in prize money.
In the $5,000 1.40m Jumper Class, Matz claimed the win on Jasmijn Van De Renthoeve by gong clean over the Alan Wade-designed one-round course in the fastest time of 59.546 seconds.
On Wedneday, Matz had won the 1.35m class on Jasmijn Van De Renthoeve.
IN THE 1.40m, Chapot placed second on Calafornia with a clean ride in 60.625 seconds.
On Wednesday, Chapot had won the class on Thornhill Kate and also was secondon Calafornia.
Chapot rode Out of Ireland to win the $2,000 1.35m Jumper Class by finishing the one-round course fault-free in 60.219 seconds.
Matz finished clean in 62.835 seconds on VDL Nikita Van De Leeuwerk to finish second.
Also, Hallie Grimes rode Betagravin to win the $5,000 1.25m Jumper Classic.
Grimes topped a field of 39 with two clean rounds and the fastest jump-off time of 35.920 seconds.
Chapot placed second with a clean jump-off ride in 37.482 seconds on Umberto.
