The Jockey Club Report of Mares Bred showed that of the top 10 states and provinces ranked by number of mares bred, Pennsylvania and Maryland were two of only four states with an increase in 2020.
Pennsylvania is up 7 percent, and Maryland is up 3.3 percent while most of the rest of the country is down.
In addition, Pennsylvania is up 32.1 percent in number of stallions standing in the state and is one of only two states where the number of stallions standing has increased.
