Galloping Lane Farm (GLF) was established in 2010 by Liz Woodfield and Bill Carlucci, both lifelong riders and horse enthusiasts with a vision for a farm where horses and riders could develop to their desired goals.
Liz's passion for breeding predates meeting Bill, but together they have become breeders of Sport Horses for Eventing, Jumpers, and Hunters in the American market.
As their breeding program developed, Liz and Bill realized the value of a separate breeding facility on the farm.
They built the Galloping Lane Reproduction Center at the heart of the farm, where mares can be checked in a safe environment away from the busy riding barns.
This area also includes medical grade stock, a side stall for foals to be held during breeding and checks, and a lab area for fresh and frozen breeding (LN tanks kept on premises).
When there are no mares needing to be checked, GLF uses the Reproduction Center to offer therapeutic needs for the horses on the farm with a Theraplate.
Another service offered at GLF is foaling out of mares.
Delivering foals is not something the average horse person should consider without knowledge and guidance.
Liz has been delivering her own foals for the past 20 years and has learned about all aspects of the delivery process under the tutelage of Lois Aichholz, owner and expert breeder of Oakwood Farm in New Haven, MO.
Although foaling is a natural process for mares, up to 10% of foals may experience a catastrophic dystocia, putting the life of the foal and the mare at risk.
GLF has built a specific foaling stall that is 15’ by 15’ with Stable Comfort flooring to give a laboring mare plenty of room to deliver and the foal a surface as soft as natural ground.
Additionally, camera systems and positional devices worn by the mare help ensure no foaling events go unattended.
If you are interested in learning more about the breeding and foaling services offered by GLF to outside mares, please go to the website www.gallopinglanefarm.com or call 908-391-2151 and ask for Liz.
