Wendy Weikel of Lansdale, Pa., took this photo of a young horse that decided he'd had enough at Dressage at Devon while his handler looked on.

"The horse was in the Colts/Gelding born in 2024 class," said Weikel. "The colt was not having it and wanted out. He ended up on ground. The judges checked him out and he was OK."

Cesar Contreras Pina of Oxford Pa.. took this series of photos sent in by his wife Tara Ziegler.

This is a picture of our 2-year-old Cane Corso, an Italian mastiff named Angus, aka Gus, and our 5-year-old son, Samuel," said Ziegler. "They enjoy going for walks together."

Any one of the series could have won as a single photo, but together they show a wonderful progression, each with great expressions of the fun he's having on the face of Samuel as well as the expressive faces of Gus.

Allan Shore of Wellington, Fla., took this photo of a chipmunk that was too fat to fit back through the chain link fence after a meal at the bird feeder.

Shore took the photo at his home in Pennsylvania.

"We have a Jack Russell that rushed out of the house when he saw the chipmunk," said Shore. "That scared the chipmunk, so he backed out of the fence and darted into a hole."

The previous Third Place Action Photo of Andrew McConnon of Bass, N.C., riding Wakita in the Kentucky 3 Day Event April 2024 has been replaced as the FEI has opened disciplinary proceedings against USA Eventing Rider Andrew McConnon (FEI ID/10071279), following allegations of horse abuse involving numerous horses over an extensive period of time.

The photo taken by Jodie Clineschmidt of Perkiomenville, Pa., of Phillip Dutton of West Grove, Pa, riding Quasi Cool in the Kentucky 3 Day Event in April 2024 is the Third Place Action photo winner.

This photo is a winner because of the clarity and expression on Dutton's face.

This photo of Blausy, a Doberman and Foxy, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, running and playing, sent in by Donnan Jones of Unionville, Pa., won first place in the Photo Contest, Action section.

Blausy is a rescue Doberman owned by Donnan Jones and Foxy is owned by her son, Matt Plumb, who comes to visit when Matt is out of town.

Jones says the two are best friends and enjoy running and playing together

Photos are judged on sharpness and clarity of subject, originality and difficulty of capturing the photo and the expressions of the face or faces of the subject.

The second and third placed Action photos will be posted in the next two days, followed by the first, second and third placed Candid photos, the first second and third placed Pet photos and then the Honorary Mention Action photos.

The Honorary Mention Candid photos will be posted in February, followed by the Honorary Mention Pet photos.
