Honorable Mention Action photos

Elaine Deutsch took the top two photos of race horses at Parx.

"Top left is the Gallant Bob Stakes at PARX on PA Derby Day. Pa-bred Witty (#8 - middle horse grey) races to the finish," said Deutsch. "He was bred in Pa., by Elizabeth Merryman and she is still the owner. Horse to the right is #10, Lightening Larry and horse to the left is #11, Nakatomi."

Top right is the Imply Stakes for Pa-bred and Pa-Sired 2 yo Fillies," said Deutsch. "#1 is Midnight Parade (by Hoppertunity) and #2 is Pachelbel (by Hoppertunity). #5 is For De Sombra. The race finished as a 1-2 for the sire Hoppertunity. Midnight Parade won and Pachelbel was second."

Next on the left was taken by Carol Moore of Coatesville, Pa , of the Pa Hunt Cup, Unionville, Pa., and on the right is taken by Pamela Bastings of Coatesville, Pa., and is of Cheshire Point-to-Point Spring races in Unionville, PA.

The bottom photo was taken by MaryAnn Riess that she entited “On the scent” of Riverhill foxhounds Master Greg Paxson.

David Szymanski of Lincoln Univertity, Pa., took this photo of Aly who is by Alysheba and Strike who is by Strike the Gold...."laying in the field enjoying the sun."

"They're about 10 or 11 now," said Szymanski. "I raced both of them at Delaware Park and Parx, and they both won a couple of races. They're best buddies."

Szymanski has an 84 acre farm, and he said he's down to just seven horses and a number of white German shepherds, but hat he hopes to get back into racing soon. He races both thoroughbred and quarter horses.

The top two photos.  "one is of a girl at the Veterinary Jog Through at Dressage at Devon, 2022, and just after this photo, her hat blew off! She had a good laugh about that. The second on the right, "The horse/rider who won possibly the Grand Prix Musical Freestyle at Dressage at Devon, 2022," said Coath.

The bottom two photos. "The Chestnut filly, is I believe was bred by Quinnten Alston. The other is a Friesian bred by Iron Spring Farm, I believe it may be Gallexy,"said Coath.

Karen Kohl-Trager of Sprakers, N.Y.,, took this photo of two weanlings playing on a summer's day.

"The dark brown colt is a NY-bred thoroughbred by War Dancer," said Kohl-Trager, who took the photo wit her i-phone. She intends to race this colt."The chestnut is a Welsh pony -thoroughbred cross."

"We have 24 horses, some boarders and some lay-ups, and four or five mares that we breed every year," said Kohl-Trager, whose farm is between Albany and Syracuse. "The youngsters all play together. We have a big ball that they kick back and forth. they play together, fight together and then sleep together."

"Here are two photos of "Society", daughter of top sire Gun Runner, who won the Cotillion Stakes at the Pa. Derby at Parx Race Track this year, 2022," said Coath. "Ridden by Florent Geroux, the first is Society breaking from the gate.. She won a Million Dollars! It was great to have such quality horses and Jockeys right in our home town, such excitement! Both the big winners of the day, the Million Dollar winners, were sired by Gun Runner."

"Here are two photos of Taiba on his way to winning the One Million dollar PA Derby at Parx Race Track near Philadelphia.," said Coath. "Taiba is a son of the prolific winning sire Gun Runner. The jockey is Mike Smith."

Sue Wiseman of Boyertown, Pa., took this photo.

My niece rescued this fawn after its mother was tragically hit by a car," said Wiseman, who took this photo with her iphone. "They were driving down a back road near our house when they saw a deer that was clearly dead. But then a little way along they saw a fawn, and it was moving, so they scooped it up and brought it home. My cat, Munchkin, was very curious about who this visitor was and clearly displeased.  He said, 'What did you bring into my house!' The fawn was taken to Red Creek Wildlife Center in Schuykill Haven, Pa for a full recovery!"

"You can see the anticipation on her face, and she jumped it clear, no problems! She and her horse Dutch Times mainly do eventing, and the show jumping has been new to them and they've been doing extremely well. I believe she was third."
