DEVON, Pa.--Laura Chapot of Neshanic Station, N.J., leads the list of show jumpers who will begin competing at the Devon Fall Classic on Thursday, Sept. 12,
Chapot has won the Grand Prix at the Fall Classic a number of times, and she is taking three horses to the Fall Classic this year to try to win it yet again.
Chapot, who is a favorite with Devon spectators, has also been Leading Rider at the spring Devon Horse Show and Country Fair a number of times.
She will competing on C & C Willow, Calafornia and Ginola at the Fall Classic, which runs Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 15.
The prize money for the Open Speed Stake on Friday evening has been doubled to $10,000, and Chapot, who is known for her prowess is speed classes, will certainly be aiming to win that class, too.
The Open Jumper sections begins with the $5,000 Welcome Stake at 7 p.m. Thursday evening, and the featured $25,000 Devon Fall Classic is at 7 p.m. Saturday evening.
The featured class of the Junior/Amateur section, the $7,500 SJHOF 1.45m Jr./Amateur Classic, is the last class Saturday afternoon.
A spectator favorite is the Devon Leadline Competition, the cutest class of the show, which will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, not before 1:00 pm.
ALONG WITH all the exciting competition in the Dixon Oval, there's plenty of entertainment in the Fair area and in the Clydesdales Corner.
On Thursday, DJ Brian Bohn will play from 5-8:30 pm, on Friday, it's Rick’s Office Band from 7:30-10:30 pm and on Saturday, Just Add Water entertains from 7:30 pm until the close.
In the Country Fair, Vendor Booths Open at 10:00 am daily and Midway Rides and Games are open 4 pm to 9 pm on Thursday and Friday, and from 11 am to 9;30 pm on Saturday and from 11 am to close on Sunday.
The Wine Gazebo opens at 4 pm Thursday and Friday and at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
in the Pavilion, the entertainment on Thursday and Friday is DJ Brian Kiley from 5 to 8 pm., on Saturday he's on from 12 to 2 and 5 to 9, and then on Sunday the Brass Band plays from 12 to 1 pm.
The always popular Plant Sale is at the end of the last class on Sunday, at approximately 2:30 pm.
