DEVON, Pa.--The $50,000 Arena Eventing Class will once again be held at Devon Horse Show and Country Fair on Sunday evening, May 28.
The event will return for its fifth year after its immense success,and entries are due by May 15.
This year's class will begin at 7 p.m., following the course walk at 6:15 p.m.
It will focus on highlighting two out of three components of the classic three-day eventing format which showcases dressage, show jumping, and cross country.
In order to qualify for this unique opportunity, riders must have attained a qualifying score in a CCI3*-L eventing competition.
The course will again be designed by Olympic gold medalist Captain Mark Phillips, former coach of the U.S. Eventing Team, and will consist of a combination of cross-country and show jumping obstacles utilizing the Dixon Oval and the Wheeler Ring to highlight the best of the eventing discipline.
CAPTAIN PHILLIPS also served at the course designer for the World Equestrian Games in 2018 and was inducted this past October as a member of the 2022 Devon Legends class.
Cross country obstacles will have a fixed height of 1.15 m and show jumps will be a maximum of 1.20m in height.
The first round course is 1,000m with a calculated speed of 450m/m.
Fault penalties will be given for any knockdowns and exceeding the course time limit.
Prize money for competitors will be awarded up to 12th place and there is no entry fee.
