Adrienne Lyle and Hunt Tosh Equestrians of the Year while Anthony D'Ambrosio and Linda Allen in Show Jumping Hall of Fame

LEXINGTON,, Ky.--Adrienne Lyle and Hunt Tosh were named  Equestrians of the Year, and Anthony D'Ambrosio and Linda Allen were elected for induction into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame.

Olympic veteran Adrienne Lyle of Wellington, Fla., on Salvino earned a personal best score of 85.580% to win the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle at week 11 of the Global Dressage Festival last year and then traveled to CHIO Aachen in June where they placed second in the CDI4* Grand Prix against some of the world’s best.

In August, Lyle and Salvino posted an 83.704% in the Blue Hors FEI World Dressage Grand Prix Freestyle Championship—the second-highest score of her career and good for sixth place amongst a strong international field.

The combination was the only American team partnership to compete in the Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special, and Freestyle at the World Championships, where they also played a key role in qualifying the U.S. Dressage Team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

“I want to thank everyone who took the time to vote in the USEF Equestrian of the Year awards. I’m very humbled to receive this award,” said Lyle. “One of my favorite sayings is that when a rider stands on a podium, they never stand alone. It is incredible how many people’s dreams are intertwined in this sport of ours, and just what a huge village it takes to help make these dreams come true. I’m thankful to all the amazing people in my life who have supported me and helped shape me into the rider and horsewoman I am today. I want to say a special thank you to my long-time coach, Debbie McDonald; Salvino’s owner, Betsy Juliano; and my whole team of fabulous grooms at home, who are such an integral part of any success our team has. Last but certainly not least, thank you to these horses—these amazing animals who allow us to be part of their journey and bring so much joy to so many lives.”

TOSH in 2022 continued to win across divisions all season long.

With the Wheeler family’s Cannon Creek, Tosh capped off the winter season with a win in the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship and went on to win High Performance Hunter Championships at the Devon Horse Show, Upperville Colt & Horse Show, Pennsylvania National Horse Show, and National Horse Show.

This is Tosh’s second consecutive USEF National Equestrian of the Year award.

“One definition of ‘horseman’ is one whose skill with horses is exceptional,” said Tosh. “Although I do not consider myself exceptional, I’m fortunate to be surrounded by those who are: a group of people that includes my family, friends, vets, farriers, grooms, breeders, farm manager, and owners who I am lucky enough to call my friends. I learn something from these exceptional people every day. But we all owe the most to the horses. To be able to spend my life caring for these animals is a privilege.”

AWARD-WINNING rider, trainer, and course designer Anthony D’Ambrosio and internationally respected official and clinician Linda Allen have been elected for induction into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame.

mailAnthony D'AmbrosioThey will be formally inducted during the Hall of Fame’s Induction Gala on Sunday evening, March 5, at the Wanderers Club in Wellington, Florida.

Induction into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame is an honor bestowed annually upon select individuals whose contributions to the sport have set them apart and whose influence has had a significant impact on the sport of show jumping and the equestrian community.

D’Ambrosio has had a highly successful career in show jumping, including more than 40 years of successes in Grand Prix and Puissance competitions, as well as a high-jump record that has held since 1983.

D’Ambrosio twice set the world record for the Puissance, first in 1973 at the National Horse Show in Madison Square Garden where he jumped 7’4” aboard Sympatico, and then on Sweet & Low at the Washington International Horse Show in 1983 at 7’7 ½”, an indoor record that still stands today!

D’Ambrosio began designing courses in 1995, and he is currently an FEI 4* Course Designer.

He has designed courses at some of the biggest events in the world, including the 2009 and 2015 FEI World Cup Finals in Las Vegas, Spruce Meadows in Canada, the North American Young Riders Championships, the Pan American Games Trials for the Canadian Team, Blenheim in California and the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington.

He was honored as the USHJA Course Designer of the Year in 2008 and 2010.

D’Ambrosio also served as Technical Advisor/Delegate for the Winter Equestrian Festival, Foreign Technical Delegate at the 2010 FEI World Cup Final in Geneva, Switzerland and Technical Delegate at Spruce Meadows.

He and his wife Michael are based out of Wild Horse Ranch in Red Hook, N.Y., which specializes in developing Grand Prix jumpers.

He has sold four Olympic horses, three of which he developed from an early age, as well as many other Grand Prix winners.

Linda Allen has spent more than 60 years in equestrian sports, beginning as a rider, reaching the Grand Prix level where she represented the U.S. in international competition and followed that with a career as an internationally respected official that saw her judge and design courses for some of the world’s premier events including the FEI World Cup Finals and Olympic Games.

Following her riding career, Allen became a USEF ‘R’ Jumper Course Designer and Judge, FEI Level 3 Judge and an FEI Level 4 Course Designer.

Allen was Technical Delegate for the 1994 FEI World Equestrian Games (The Hague), 1999 Pan American Games (Winnipeg), three FEI World Cup Finals, the 1998 America’s Cup Junior and Young Rider Championships (Sao Paulo), and 2006 World Children’s Final (Calgary).

Allen designed courses at major events around the world including the 1996 Olympic Games, 1992 FEI World Cup Finals (Del Mar), 1999 World Breeding Championships for Young Horses (Belgium), 2003 Super League Nations Cup (Dublin), 2004 & 2005 Super League Nations Cup (Rotterdam), 2005 & 2006 North American Junior and Young Rider Championships (Lexington, VA) and 2007 World Children’s Final (Mexico).
