Letter to Eventing Nation

Ms. Wylie,

I just read your replies to Ms.Yoder in the Horse of Delaware Valley, and I was struck by your comment that if even one person was offended by the name Plantation Field, that was enough.

Plantation Field 2Well, surely more than one person was offended, most especially Mr.Walker, by your activism renaming the property P Field.

My question is why your one person taking offense at the word Plantation, is more important than the hundreds,at least, who took offense at your activism.

Who decided that you would be the judge as to what was most important?

I think you will find that as far as Eventing Nation is concerned, you will be persona non grata in the Eventing World, and your advertisers will not be patronized by many. I know ten people who have cancelled their orders with Smart Pak, just in one small barn, giving your activism as the reason.

YOU HAVE damaged the sport of Eventing, cost many the use of a beautiful property, all for the sake of a word that holds none of the offensive meaning you ascribe to it.

Would you have all realtors now stop referring to the master bedroom when showing a house? If you were involved in interior decorating, I imagine you would!

I personally have contacted your advertisers, and all have replied that they have pulled their ads. Hopefully that will alert you that there are many in the Eventing world that YOU have mightily offended with your unwanted activism.
