UNIONVILLE, Pa.--Ellie Glaccum of Unionville, won the Action section of The Horse's annual Photo Contest with an incredible series of photos taken at the Pennsylvania Hunt Cup last fall in which Jack Doyle, with an amazing show of horsemanship, somehow keeps Just Wait and See from falling despite leaving a leg over a fence and also manages to stay on the horse, and then goes on to win the Arthur O. Choate Jr. Memorial allowance timber race.
Second place goes to Jodie Clineschmidt of Perkiomenville, Pa. for her photo of Boyd Martin taken at the Kentucky three Day Event last spring, and third goes to Virginia Lippincott of Downingtown, Pa., for her photo of vaulters at Dressage at Devon.
Second and third placed photos will be placed on The Horse in following days, followed by Honorable Mentions.
There were so many excellent photos in all three categories that judging was very difficult, although in all three categories first, second and third were outstanding.
But many of the honorable mentions are of equal value both in degree of excellence of the photos, difficulty in getting the photos and originality, so many cases a photois shown as Honorable Mention towards the end of the month is equally as good as one shown earlier in the month.
