Heidel Hollow Farm, Inc.: A Legacy of Innovation in Hay Production

Nestled in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, Heidel Hollow Farm, Inc. stands as a testament to agricultural innovation and family tradition.

Heidel 1This bicentennial farm, managed by the 10th and 11th generations of the Fink family, has been at the forefront of quality hay production for over five decades.

The farm's hay-making process combines traditional methods with cutting-edge technology.

Large 3' x 4' x 8' bales are initially baled in the field.

These bales then undergo a revolutionary drying process using the Chinook Hay Dryer.

This advanced machine utilizes long spears to dry bales from the inside out, significantly reducing drying time and improving hay quality by minimizing dust, mold, and spoilage.

Heidel 2After drying, the hay is compressed using the Steffen compressing system.

This compression process not only makes the hay more manageable but also optimizes storage and transportation efficiency.

All hay is stored in breathable shrink-wrapped pallets to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage.

The farm offers hay year-round, ensuring customers always have access to high-quality forage.

Heidel Hollow Farm's commitment to quality extends beyond production.

All hay is tested to ensure its nutritional value and suitability for various markets.

Heidel 3The farm has been exporting hay overseas since 1974, showcasing its global reach and reputation for excellence.

The farm produces Hydration Hay® bricks using a proprietary process.

These compact bricks rehydrate quickly and provide fresh feed with consistent quality, even when traveling or using foreign water sources.

Heidel Hollow Farm, Inc. also offers cash and carry hay sales, ranging from single bales to full tractor-trailer loads.

Additionally, they provide domestic hay delivery services along the east coast of the United States, ensuring their high-quality products are accessible to a wide range of customers.

With 1,600 acres under management, including 700 acres dedicated to hay production, Heidel Hollow Farm, Inc. continues to lead the way in modern agricultural practices.

Heidel 4By combining family tradition with technological advancement, the farm ensures high-quality hay production year-round, serving both domestic and international markets with unparalleled efficiency and care.

Six Reasons to Feed from the Ground in a Natural Grazing Position

There are six reasons to feed from the ground in a natural grazing position

haypi 11-Less strain on the skeletal system and soft tissue because equines are designed to primarily eat with the head down.

2-Natural Wear of Teeth & More: A natural grazing position allows the mandible (jaw bone) to come down and forward in the atlantoaxial and temporomandibular joints.

This enables the mandible to move up and down, side to side, forward and back without any restriction - facilitating natural wear of teeth along with optimum mastication and reduction of particle size.

haypi 23-Better Respiratory Health: Enables nasal passages to drain effectively thereby minimizing the inhalation of dust and particles.

4-Relaxed Mental & Emotional State: A horse’s emotional state is reflected in body position and posture.

If we require a horse to eat with their head elevated, we are encouraging an alert and tense mental state.

5-Keeps Hay and Dust Out of Eyes: Eliminates the risk of hay and dust falling into your horse's eyes.

6-Unobstructed Peripheral Vision: The Standard Hay Pillows and Mini Hay Pillows® do not impair the horse's peripheral vision.

haypi 3If impaired, this can create tension psychologically.

Horses are prey animals and depend on sight and sound to detect predators.
