PALMYRA, Pa.--Well Spelled, a 12-year-old grey stallion who will stand the 2022 season at Mountain Springs Farm in Palmyra, is a graded stakes winner and a proven sire.
Well Spelled has 61 percent winners from starters this year, and is 67 percent lifetime winners from starters.
His average earnings per starter of $40,599 is 27 times his stud fee, and 13 percent of his juvenile starters become stakes winners.
Well Spelled broke his maiden sprinting at Aqueduct on Jan. 27 as a 3-year-old and then won an allowance race at Parx.
Later the same year, he first won the G3 Jersey Shore Stakes at Monmouth and then the Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx with a 106 Beyer Speed Rating.
Well Spelled was a graded stakes winner who won four races, placed in three and was third four times from 17 starts earning $364,160, and he was elected 2012 Parx 3-Year-Old Sprinter of the Year.
He was aimed at the Breeders' Cup Sprint when he was hurt, and later he was retired to stud.
Well Spelled stamps his foals with his muscular, strong build, and passes on his super temperament.
Well Spelled has had multiple winners from limited opportunities, including stakes winners Hockey Puck and Well Graced.
Hockey Puck won the 2019 Pennsylvania Nursery, and Well Graced won the 2018 Strike Your Colors Stakes.
