Motion and Houghton have winners

WESTCHASE, Fla.--Graham Motion had three winners. including two allowances races, while Bernie Houghton saddled two winners, including a homebred for his mother Betsy.

"He's won back to back races now," said Motion. "He'll probably run next in a stakes at Tampa. His sister is Mean Mary, who just won an allowance race at Gulfstream, and she'll race next in the La Preveyante Stakes at Gulfstream."

Bye Bye Melvin, by Uncle Mo, broke his maiden at Tampa on Dec. 7 and now has two wins and a third from five starts and $32,840.

Calumet Farm's homebred Bee Catcher won a $50.000, 1 mile turf Maiden race at Gulfstream Park by 1 length on Jan. 18."He's a nice  little horse," said Motion. "He's bred closely to English Bee, who was a graded stakes winner for me. He's improved a little every time I've run him."

Bee Catcher now has one win, one second and one third from four starts and $43,400.

Earle I Mack LLC's homebred Robin Hood won a $29,667. 1 mile Starter Optional Claiming race at Laurel Park by 1/2 length on Jan. 16.

"He's a useful horse," said Motion. "He had throat issues, and he had throat surgery. This was an easier spot for him. He's been pretty consistent since he had the throat surgery."

Robin Hood has three wins, one second and three thirds from 13 starts and $86,475  in earnings.

 

HOUGHTON saddled his mother Betsy''s homebred Musical Times to win a $17,000, 6 furlong Maiden Claiming race at Penn National on Jan. 10

Musical Times is by Bourbon Courage out of Prairie Heat, by Malibu Moon," said  Betsy. "She was a really good mare that we bred. She won  a maiden race and then went right through her conditions. We bred her to Malibu Moon when his stud fee was only $3,500."

Malibu Moon now stands for $60,000 at Spendthrift in Kentucky.

"Prairie Heat was a good race mare, but she hasn't produced much," said Betsy. "Musical Times is her fourth foal. We put blinkers on her for this last race and it made all the difference in the world."

Musical Times now has one win and one third from four starts and $16,360.

Houghton also saddled HnR Nothhaft Horse Racing LLC's homebred Great Again to win a $18,000, 5 1/2 furlong Claiming race at Penn National by 1 length on Jan. 17.

Great Again now has two wins and two seconds from five starts and$31,410 in earnings..
