MALVERN, Pa.--People’s Light Theatre in Malvern presents SMALL, a wild autobiographical ride following Robert Montano’s journey from horseracing to Broadway!
The play runs from Jan. 10 to Feb. 4 on the theatre’s intimate Steinbright Stage.
Tickets are available online at peopleslight.org or by calling the box office at 610-644-3500.
In SMALL, Robert plays himself: a small Puerto Rican/Italian kid from Long Island with a big dream.
Bullied for his size, Robert finally gains respect atop horses as a jockey.
Before long, he’s galloping headlong into the intense world of professional horse racing.
But the track is as dangerous as it is exciting, full of colorful characters and powerful beasts.
The jockeys and their associates form a brotherhood even as they wrestle with the extremes of their sport.
As Bobby begins to literally outgrow his dreams, he discovers a new path that leads him toward the bright lights of Broadway.
SMALL is coming to Malvern after a successful Off-Broadway run last year.
The play was met with rave reviews in New York, hailed by The Wall Street Journal as “a gripping and vividly acted one-man show,” with Montano as “a vibrantly watchable performer.”
SMALL is recommended for ages 14 or older, containing depictions of disordered eating and drug use, and some strong language.
The play has an estimated runtime of 90 minutes with no intermission.
Tickets start at $42, including fees.
People’s Light also offers a range of ticket discounts.
There will be a Relaxed Performance on Jan. 28, featuring American Sign Language Interpretation and audio description, and Open Captions will be shown during performances from Jan. 30 to Feb. 4.
Attendees on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings can also enjoy a pre-show buffet with a reservation at the theatre’s on-site restaurant, The Fern & Fable.
