I always hope that the effort to keep the Show Jumping Hall of Fame in the mainstream will continue forever.
The Hall of Fame is a ‘National Treasure’ where the legends of our sport live forever, and it is up to all of us to make sure that we keep their legacy alive.
One new project we initiated this year to help keep our sport’s legends front and center has been the creation of trading cards.
The front of each card shows an inductee’s picture, year inducted and the Hall of Fame logo.
Each card is numbered on the back with a condensed version of their bio.
The only thing missing in each pack is a stick of bubble gum!
There are currently 72 cards produced, with the final 30 heading to the printer after the holidays.
Sets will be given out to riders on the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series and we also hope to have them available for purchase.
We are very proud of them.
Recently I left a “starter set” out on a table near the ingate at the Royal Horse Show in Toronto, and you would not believe how many people looked through them and smiled.
Many cards went missing as the days passed – Sonny Brooks’s card was taken by a veteran groom who knew him when.
HERE'S HOPING the cards will be well received throughout the circuit.
The Hall of Fame functions through the dedication and work of our superstar Board of Directors.
I would like to thank them all for their contributions to our ongoing efforts.
Also, a huge thank you to all the sponsors and donors who help annually with their support.
Our mission is carried out because of their donations and gifts. Thank you!
Plans are underway to adjust the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series for Amateur and Junior jumpers to stay current with the popularity of certain height classes while remaining loyal to our signature “High” sections.
Be sure to reserve March 3, 2024, on your calendar when the third annual Show Jumping Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony will take place at the Wanderers Club in Wellington, Fla.
For the third straight year, we will gather to welcome the new class of Hall of Famers, honor previous inductees and present the second annual International Rider Award.
The Sunday night occasion is a must-see event.
Please check our website right after the first of the year for ticket and dinner information.
It is a fun night mingling with our sport’s legends and reliving memories that last a lifetime.
The Hall of Fame is so close to my heart, and I hope many more fans of this exciting sport will join me in keeping the history of show jumping front and center. It is so important.
Happy Holidays to you all!
With very best wishes,
Peter G. Doubleday
Chairman of Board of Directors
